PTI assisted Base Backpackers with various projects over 10 years.
The main project has been their principal Sydney city property of over 500 beds in Kent St. This work involved several extensions and changes to the public areas as well as the provision of additional beds and hotel rooms. All of this was undertaken within a Schedule 1 listed heritage building and within neighbouring buildings which had been acquired.
Insodoing, PTI assisted Base to develop their brand which was unique in the Australian market at the time being a melding of a backpacker with a hotel facility and with attractive food and beverage and night club facilities. This proved to be very popular in the market because of the quality of the overall experience being provided. This helped enabled Base to build its profile as being a leader in this backpacker industry in both Australia and New Zealand.
As part of this work, PTI designed and oversaw the construction of The Scary Canary Bar, Restaurant and Night Club. This continues to be very successful and caters for both the occupants of the facility as well as the general market.
